Dress code

All students are expected to wear the proper uniform to every class. Female students should wear their hair tied back, preferably in a bun and loose hair should be pinned back to show the face clearly. No jewelry should be worn. Sport bras should not be worn unless they match the leotard. Leotard color must match those in our boutique. Underwear should not be worn under tights.

For the convenience of our students our Dance Boutique carries all required leotards, shoes, tights and accessories as well as LPAA merchandise.

​

​All Parent-Child Classes:​

  • Comfortable non-restrictive clothing. Bare feet or socks.

​

Adult Classes:​

  • Comfortable non-restrictive clothing. 

  • Dance shoes approriate for the subject: Ballet shoes for ballet, tap shoes for tap, etc.

Early Childhood Dress Code

First Steps Ballet & Tap: 

  • Tiny Tots & Pre-Ballet:

    • Girls: Light Pink leotard, light pink skirt, light pink tights. No tutus or "dress up" clothes permitted.  Hair in a bun or ponytail.  Pink leather Ballet shoes.  

    • Boys: T-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts, white ankle socks and black Ballet/Tap shoes.

  • Pre I, Pre II, Primary Ballet & Tap:

    • Girls: Light Pink leotard, light pink skirt, light pink tights.  No tutus or "dress up" clothes permitted.  Hair in a bun or ponytail.  Pink leather Ballet shoes.  Tap:  Black Tap shoes w/velcro closure (no ties or snaps allowed).

    • Boys: T-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts, white ankle socks and black Ballet/Tap shoes.

Kids Bop:​

  • Slip-on Jazz shoes (tan for girls, black for boys).

  • Girls wear a Red leotard, black LPAA knit shorts, tan tights, hair in ponytail.

  • Boys wear Red/Black t-shirt with athletic shorts/pants.

Tiny Tots Tumble:​

  • Girls: Short unitard, no shoes. Hair pulled back out of face.

  • Boys: T-shirt and shorts.

Twirl & Tumble:​

  • Slip-on Jazz shoes (tan for girls, black for boys). Bare feet for the Tumbling portion.

  • Girls: Short unitard, tan slip on jazz shoes. Hair pulled back out of face.

  • Boys: T-shirt and shorts.

Acro FUNdamentals:​

  • Girls wear a biketard or leotard with knit shorts/leggings, hair in a ponytail, bare feet.

  • Boys wear t-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts, bare feet.

​

Broadway Kids​

  • Comfortable non-restictive clothing (e.g. tank top/t-shirt, leggings, joggers, etc.)

  • Girls: Tan slip-on Jazz Shoes.

  • Boys: Black Jazz shoes or black sneakers.

Dance &Acro Age 6+

Elementary Ballet/Tap 1: Girls wear pink tights, a mulberry leotard (Sansha brand, cotton/Lycra), mulberry/white skirt, pink ballet shoes, and black mary jane tap shoes with velcro closure.  Hair: Bun/Snood.  Boys wear a t-shirt, black shorts, black shoes: ballet, tap, jazz. Leotard color and fabric must match those in our boutique. ​

Elementary Jazz & Hip-Hop 1:  Girls wear tan tights, a violet leotard (Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra), black LPAA knit shorts, tan slip-on jazz shoes, and black sneakers.  Hair: ponytail.  Boys wear a t-shirt, black shorts, black jazz shoes and black sneakers.  Leotard color and fabric must match those in our boutique. ​

Elementary Ballet / Tap / Jazz 2: Girls wear pink tights, a lavender leotard (Sansha brand, cotton/Lycra), lavender/white skirt, black LPAA knit shorts, pink ballet shoes, tan slip-on jazz shoes, and black oxford tap shoes.  Hair: Bun/Snood.  Boys wear a t-shirt, black shorts, black shoes: ballet, tap, jazz. Leotard color and fabric must match those in our boutique. ​

Upper Elementary Ballet / Tap / Jazz: Girls wear pink tights, a turquoise leotard (Revolution brand, nylon/Lycra), white skirt, black LPAA knit shorts, pink ballet shoes, tan slip-on jazz shoes, and black oxford tap shoes.  Hair: Bun/Snood.  Boys wear a t-shirt, black shorts, black shoes: ballet, tap, jazz. Leotard color and fabric must match those in our boutique. ​

Ballet:​

Hair must be worn in a bun with a hairnet & bobby pins or snood for all ballet classes. Short skirts may be worn permitted colors are listed below.  Leotard color, style, and fabric must match those in our boutique. ​

  • Ballet 2: Lavender leotard (Sansha brand, cotton/Lycra), Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes.  Lavender or White skirt.

  • Ballet 3: Light Blue leotard (Eurotard brand, Microfiber), Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes.  Optional: Light Blue or White skirt.

  • Ballet 4: Paradise Blue leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes.  Optional: Paradise or white skirt.

  • Ballet 5: Royal Blue leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes.  Optional: Royal Blue or Black skirt.

  • Ballet 6:  Purple leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes. Optional: Purple or Black skirt.

  • Ballet 7: Navy leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes. Optional: Navy or Black skirt.

  • Ballet 8: Black leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes. Optional: Black skirt, or patterned skirt. 

  • Open Ballet:  Black leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes.  Optional: Black skirt. 

  • Beginning Pointe:  Purple leotard Mondor brand, Tactel nylon/Lycra, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes. Optional: Purple or Black skirt.

Male Students:​

  • Ballet: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, white socks, black ballet shoes.

  • Other: Solid t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black jazz shoes.

  • Tap: black tap oxford.

​​

​Broadway​

  • Comfortable non-restictive clothing (e.g. tank top/t-shirt, leggings, joggers, etc.)

  • Girls: Tan slip-on Jazz Shoes.

Musical Theatre Dance:​

  • Leotard, tan tights. black shorts/leggings.

  • Girls: Tan slip-on Jazz Shoes. character shoes (skin tone, 1.5-inch heel) and black tap shoes

  • Boys: Black Jazz shoes or black sneakers and and black tap shoes.

​Tap:​

  • Solid color leotard, tan tights, black tap oxford (Mary Jane for level Elem. 1).

  • Black shorts or leggings.

Jazz / C.J.T. / Poms:​

  • Solid color leotard, tan or black convertible tights, tan slip-on jazz shoes.

  • Black shorts or leggings.

Contemporary-Modern, PBT:​

  • Solid color leotard, convertible/footless tights, bare feet. 

  • Black shorts or leggings

Hip-Hop:​

  • Comfortable, non-restrictive clothing, t-shirts, sweatpants or other loose pants/shorts are encouraged, and black sneakers (worn indoors only).  Sneakers need to be predominantly black with white soles. If there are accents white or grey accents are preferred. 

Acro:​

  • Girls wear a biketard or leotard with knit shorts/leggings, hair in a ponytail, bare feet.

  • Boys wear t-shirt tucked into elastic waist shorts, bare feet.
