Dress Code

A dress code helps teachers see how well students are implementing the technical aspects of dance being taught: body alignment, stretched feet, extended knees, etc. For parents, a dress code takes the hassle out of readying their child for class, and it’s less expensive than keeping their children’s closets full of the latest dance styles. For students, a dress code promotes equality in the classroom and allows the student to focus on training without being distracted by what others are wearing.

All students are expected to wear the proper uniform to every class. Female students should wear their hair tied back, preferably in a bun and loose hair should be pinned back to show the face clearly. No jewelry should be worn. Sport bras should not be worn unless they match the leotard, click here to link to our preferred cotton/lycra option.

For the convenience of our students our Dance Boutique carries all required leotards, shoes, tights and accessories as well as LPAA merchandise.

Early Childhood	No tutus or "dress up" clothes permitted.
All Classes Mighty Tykes	Light Pink leotard, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes., Black tap shoes, Tan slip-on jazz shoes T-shirt, sweat pants or shorts, no shoes

Ballet	Hair must be worn in a bun with a hairnet & bobby pins or snood for all ballet classes.
Ballet 1 & 2	Lavender leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes
Ballet 3 & 4	Light Blue leotard, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes
Ballet 5 & 6	Purple leotard, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes
Ballet 7 & All Teen	Navy Blue leotard, Pink tights, Pink Ballet shoes
Ballet 8, Next Step & Cecchetti I-IV	Black leotard, Pink tights, Pink ballet shoes

Jazz	Solid color leotard, tan or black convertible tights, tan slip-on jazz shoes. Black shorts or capris may be worn in levels Int.-Adv. & Teen

Tap	Solid color leotard, tan or black tights, black shorts or Capris may be worn, black tap oxford

Hip-Hop	Comfortable clothing and clean dance sneakers

Modern	Solid color leotard, convertible/footless tights, no shoes

Vocal Performance	Leotard or t-shirt, tan tights, black LPAA capri pants, tan slip-on jazz shoes

Pilates Classes	Comfortable clothing and bare feet or socks.

Male Students	Ballet: White t-shirt, black pants or shorts, white socks, black ballet shoes Other: LPAA t-shirt, black pants or shorts, black jazz shoes (Tap: black tap oxford)

Adult Classes	Comfortable clothing and appropriate shoes
